Nussbaum Law is a legal practice dedicated exclusively to Family Law in Toronto.

Our legal staff understands that separation and divorce is an emotional time and we are committed to providing a personal approach to all our clients. If it is required, our lawyers and staff have extensive experience in litigating cases in both the Superior Court and Ontario Court of Justice.


JD, MBA, Senior Lawyer

Barry is a respected member of both the Ontario and New York Bars. He completed the combined JD/MBA program at Osgoode Hall and the Schulich School of Business. Prior to practicing law, Barry was an associate at an international consulting firm, where he provided international tax consulting services to Canadian multinational companies. Barry represents clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, support, property division, and domestic contracts (prenuptial, cohabitation, separation, and parenting agreements). Barry also assists clients involved in child protection matters with the Children’s Aid Societies. With his broad and focused experience in family law, Barry provides effective and strategic solutions for his clients. Barry regularly appears in the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice, including representing clients on appeal matters.

Some of Barry’s notable successes include the following:
  • Successfully defended Ontario as the appropriate jurisdiction, when the mother unilaterally attempted to change the jurisdiction to Alberta (Pearson v. Whittingham, 2012 ONCJ 187).
  • Defeated the Children’s Aid Society on a motion to temporarily place the child in the care of the mother, rather than in the care of the Children’s Aid Society (Children’s Aid Society of Toronto v. C.D., 2015 ONCJ 36).
  • Obtained an Order for sole custody for the Father after a 3-day trial (Alqudsi v. Dahnus, 2016 ONCJ 707).
In his personal time, Barry enjoys spending time with his family, especially his five wonderful children.

Associate Lawyer | B.A., J.D.

Clifton Leung graduated from Windsor Law in 2017 after spending his final year at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school, Clifton graduated with a double major in Philosophy and Criminology & Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Toronto. Clifton realized his passion for family law while working with Jewish Family & Child Service of Greater Toronto. With this experience, he is able to bring the perspective of a children’s aid society to Nussbaum Law, particularly with regard to custody and access.

In his spare time, Clifton enjoys gastronomy and expanding his palate by learning about whiskey and regularly participating in wine tastings.


Associate Lawyer | B.A., LL.B.

Erika was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017 and joined Nussbaum Law Profession Corporation as an Associate in 2018. Her legal experience includes family law, child protection, wills & estates and real estate law. Erika aims to provide high quality, professional service to her clients in an efficient, affordable manner.

Erika has represented clients in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, the GTA, Peel Region and Simcoe County. She has extensive experience in issues including separation, divorce, equalization, property division, custody and access, child support, spousal support, parenting plans, cohabitation/marriage agreements, separation agreements and child protection. Erika has also assisted clients with their Wills, Powers of Attorney and real estate transactions.

Erika attained her BA English from the University of Alberta and her LLB at Cardiff University law school. She is a member of the Family Lawyer’s Association of Ontario and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers. Erika enjoys being involved in the community by volunteering at the Redwood women’s shelter and Lawyer’s Union of Ontario. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, as well as visual and performance arts.


Associate Lawyer

Jotty Gill earned her LL.B. at Leicester University in the United Kingdom where she specialized in international relations and social justice. Prior to this, she obtained a double major in Political Science and Sociology from McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario. She completed her articles at the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, where she vigorously defended victims of domestic violence in family law and immigration matters. It was during her time at the clinic she realized her passion for family law. Following her call to the bar in 2017, Jotty worked at a downtown Toronto law firm, focusing on family law and wills. Following that, she worked at a Mississauga law firm in the area of civil litigation.
Jotty is a strong advocate for her clients and prides herself on the exceptional service she provides. She will give you a genuine and realistic assessment of your case, and help you understand what to expect throughout the process. Jotty is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi.
When not in the office, Jotty enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching Netflix and travelling.


Associate Lawyer | B.A. with Hons, J.D.

Kevin graduated from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia in 2018. He was called to the Ontario bar the following year, and joined Nussbaum Law Professional Corporation in 2020.

Kevin has a broad background in family law, having worked at three different legal aid clinics prior to joining Nussbaum Law PC. He has experience across multiple jurisdictions handling divorces, child support, spousal support, custody, access, property division, wills, and other areas of family law. Kevin has worked extensively with clients who are in vulnerable situations or experiencing physical, emotional, and financial abuse, both domestically and abroad. Kevin is also a volunteer lawyer at Luke’s Place, a Support and Resource Centre for Women & Children in Oshawa; he volunteers for both the Pro Bono Summary Advice Clinic and Virtual Legal Clinic, and also facilitates Family Law Information Workshops.

Prior to attending law school, Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Western Ontario, graduating with distinction with an Honours Specialization in Media, Information and Technoculture and a Minor in Writing Studies. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys music, writing, and sports–he played rugby throughout law school and won a national championship for Ultimate Frisbee.


Associate Lawyer | B.A., LL.B

Morgan graduated top of her class from the University of Kent Law School in Canterbury, UK. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2018. Prior to law school, Morgan obtained an honours degree in Classics and Archaeology from Queen’s University.
During law school, Morgan participated in several legal clinics and pro bono legal efforts, including volunteering at the Kent Legal Clinic and interning at the Bar Pro Bono Unit in London, UK.
Following law school, Morgan developed an interest in family law. Morgan assists clients in all facets of matrimonial matters, and is recognized for her passionate advocacy.Outside of the office, Morgan enjoys volunteering at the Humane Society. She also considers herself a bit of a ‘foodie’ and enjoys trying new restaurants.



Ysamin was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014. She graduated top 3 in her class with magna cum laude from the University of Buckingham, UK. Prior to law school, Ysamin obtained her undergraduate degree with honours in Sociology, Theatre studies and French from York University.

Prior to joining the firm in 2020, Ysamin was practicing with a primary focus Family law and Wills & Estates. She has earned the reputation of being a cooperative and knowledgeable professional. Her core values are based on integrity and honesty as she is direct in her approach while advising clients.

When not in the office, Ysamin enjoys attending the theatre, board games and puzzles. Ysamin also loves travelling, having visited approximately 38 countries and over 120 cities.


Associate Lawyer

Zakiya earned her LL.B. at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, graduating with First Class Honours. While in law school, she worked as a student advisor with the university’s Pro Bono Group where she worked on cases relating to immigration, wills and estates and a variety of family law matters.During her summers she interned at a boutique family law firm in Toronto. Upon returning to Canada, she obtained her LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School. While doing so, she also worked at a global immigration law firm in downtown. Having the opportunity to experience both family and immigration law in practice, Zakiya realized her true passion lies in family law.

Outside of the office Zakiya enjoys spending her time outdoors, volunteering at community events and catching up on her favourite Netflix series.


Law Clerk

Brittany earned her Law Clerk Diploma in 2014 from Centennial College with Honours.
Following graduation, Brittany was employed at a mid-sized litigation firm practicing in the area of Creditor’s Rights. In October 2017, Brittany began working at Nussbaum Law PC to pursue her career in Family Law.
In her spare time, Brittany enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies and traveling.


Law Clerk

Irina started her career working on Bay Street for a boutique litigation firm specializing in bankruptcy and insolvency. She later moved into the area of family law and has been working exclusively in the family law sector for the past 5 years.

Irina obtained her law clerk diploma, with honors, at Georgian College. She later went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University.

Irina is fluent in English and Russian. She is passionate about her work and is always available to help others. In her free time, Irina enjoys working out, riding her horse, going to the beach, attending Polo events, volunteering, and taking care of her two dogs, Yoshi and Lily.


Law Clerk

Julia is a final year LL.B student at Queen Mary University of London and current LawClerk/Assistant with Nussbaum Law. During her time in Law School, Julia volunteered at the Legal Advice Centre, and is currently a Mentor in the IAMU Street Community Project. This community project aims at teaching primary school students about Equality and Human Rights issues through in-class interactive weekly lessons.

Prior to attending Law School, Julia obtained her Paralegal degree from Humber’s four-year program. In advance of joining Nussbaum Law, Julia practiced as a licensed Paralegal for an Employment Law firm and has the relative experience in dealing with Meditations, Small Claims Court matters, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal matters and Superior Court of Justice Matters.

Julia will (hopefully) be joining our firm as an Articling Student in 2021. In her spare time, Julia is an avid writer (having been published for Humber’s Paralegal of Access to Justice Journal twice), she also loves to play soccer and travel to various countries.


Articling Student

Originally from the UK, Ari graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2020. Prior to Law School, Ari obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Reichman University in Israel as well as a Post Graduate degree in Accounting from York University.

Ari has a passion for Alternative Dispute Resolution, specifically in negotiation and mediation which he has extensive training in. Ari ranked top 5 in the 2020 Dentons Negotiation Cup and subsequently was asked to represent Osgoode internationally.

In his spare time, Ari enjoys travelling, spending time with family and playing soccer (or football as he’d rather call it).

Jonathan Korman

Jonathan graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2020. Prior to law school, Jonathan obtained an undergraduate degree in Political Science at York University with a focus on international politics and critical security. Jonathan discovered his passion for family law while providing legal assistance to low income clients with the Family Law Project.

Outside of work and school, Jonathan loves rock climbing, the outdoors and his dog Luna.
