Barry Nussbaum is a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the Law Society of Ontario, a designation awarded to a limited number of lawyers who have demonstrated extensive experience, knowledge, and proficiency in family law.

Called to the bar in both Ontario and New York, Barry has over 17 years of experience dedicated almost exclusively to family and divorce law. He leads a growing legal team and provides strategic direction across a broad range of complex family law matters, including high-conflict parenting disputes, child relocation and Hague Convention cases, support and income determination issues, complex property division, domestic contracts, and sensitive Children’s Aid Society proceedings.

Barry’s practice is defined by his ability to manage complex and emotionally charged cases with clarity, strategy, and focus. He represents clients at every stage of the process; from initial consultation through negotiation, mediation, litigation, and trial, and is regularly before both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice.

He has acted in significant and complex cases involving international child abduction, serious allegations of family violence, high-income support disputes, and intricate financial and property issues. While a skilled courtroom advocate, Barry is equally recognized for his practical approach to resolving disputes efficiently, with a focus on narrowing issues and achieving meaningful, cost-effective outcomes.

Barry is known for delivering clear, direct, and strategic advice during some of the most difficult periods in his clients’ lives. His insight and perspective are regularly sought by media outlets for commentary on family law issues.
